We stay at the Aspen Inn. Their web page says pet friendly.

Best Western in Grand Marais allows dogs, however it is pretty pricy and has been crazy booked the last few summers it seems.
There were a few others we called that allowed dogs but had a size limit, and Best Western was the only one that allowed the 160lb Mastiff we had along.

Our dog will be 22-26 pounds (he is a puppy right now). What is the names of the other places you found?

I've stayed at the Harbor Inn with my dog. It was in pretty rough shape, and not all that cheap, but it was a bed and dogs were allowed. Lots of places up there require 2 or more nights, and they did not, so we took it. The Cliff Dweller is a better option, but that's more around Lutsen/Tofte area.

I second Aspen Inn. Great mom and pop place. Plus it's the old school drive up to your room motel which I prefer for the pooch. I think I used Tripadvisor to book sometime around April but not sure. I would just call them in the spring when they open.

I stayed at Trailside motel with the dog. $10 for under 40 pound dog. Reasonable price and clean. Highway view.
They sometimes require a two or three night stay over weekends though.

Their prices look good too. Thanks

I've already booked our room at the Aspen Inn for this June. I used Expidia, same as last year.

Just to be clear, there are two Aspens - the Aspen Inn is on south end on west side or road, and the Aspen Lodge on the north end of town on the lake side. They are affiliated and I’ve stayed at both. I think the Lodge is a bit nicer, but the Inn had some (not all) drive up rooms so easy in and out with a dog if that matters. I’ve stayed at the Inn in winter but I drove by it the other day and it looked closed for the season. People at the lodge may be able to tell more.
