I am thinking about making a removable canoe seat and wanted to spitball some ideas here.

My thought is to have a small kneeling saddle under a typically webbed canoe seat that is removable depending on the clearnces of the seat. My big concern is foot entrapment under some seats when kneeling. Removing the seat quickly could make it more comfortable to kneel and safer.

1) I want to try a rail system similar to that of a pack boat. But I don't know what to use for a clip system to attach to the parrell rails. Any ideas

2) Not a traditional bench seat but to build out the area around the saddle with additional foam to make a bench. I don't like this because you cant tuck your feet under a little.

3) Attatch a seat across the canoe that is only webbing and no wood support. This will pull the walls of the canoe inwards as the straps cant transfer the load into a vertical load.

4) What else you got?

Swift has a detachable seat that uses magnets to keep in place, and I think could pop out quickly. Ignore the carbon fiber and see if this gives you any ideas.

Can you imagine the amount of Black sand the magnets will collect?
I made a saddle of mini-cell for mine that is not glued in , what I have not done, yet, is to attach a lanyard to it and the boat so I don't lose it.

Is this for a solo canoe? Do you wish to kneel for running class 2 or higher river or just for rough weather on lakes?
