I’m looking for a tandem folks. Dealers have offered to take the solo(s) at respective prices. Thought I’d see who needs what and save myself the transportation fee. Thus, I have a price window for both boats: you can send me your best offer. I need to get $2500 for the Magic. I need to get $3800 for the prism. If not, i will trade one of the boats for close to that dollar amount for a trade in on the tandem I want-which will then possibly require a transportation fee. I don’t need the money and am happy to hold on to both boats. I won the battle of the garage years’ ago. I drive old cars, don’t like clothing, but have a canoe fettish. Sure that makes sense to some.
Likely I will be at Copia.

UprightWatertight: "
Hi there, nice canoe! Can I ask where you found the black aramid felt skid plates? Thanks!"
Bought the boat like that from a good guy on this board. He maybe took it out locally once. I dis the same. He also has the painters and creek chair installed when I purchased it.

Kermit: "Do you mean $2800 for the Prism, rather than $3800? A brand new Prism is only $3100."
You are correct. Though the skid plates would be another $200, not sure about the painters and accompanied ropes (not sure how much that would cost and do know you can install the painters yourself) and the creek seat. Plus tax.
So yes, i would take $2800 and bring to Copia.

Hello Bill/aamodt1:
I am very interested in purchasing a Bell Northstar tandem, which is now made by Northstar Canoes under the model name Polaris. I am driving to Madison, WI for Canoecopia, 11-13 March. Assuming you are in the Midwest, might you be interested in showing me your Bell Northstar?
I have sent you an email. Replies most easily received by me at jimklukkert at yahoo.
Thanks,
NMJim

aamodt1: "I am kind of interested in the Prism. I have a Bell Northstar tandem that I got from my parents. They did not use it much and it is in good shape. Are you interested in working out a trade of some sort? Where are you located?
Bill"
Still hoping to hear by email, text or phone from Bill aka aamodt1 regarding his Bell Northstar.

Really not interested in buying your prism, but rather have a question for you or others. I am interested in the skid plates, did you buy them and install them yourself, or do you have them put on professionally? I bought a used prism a couple years ago, an older one about 20 years old, but almost like brand new. The man I bought it from hardly ever used it and kept it in his garage. Finally bringing it to the BW in July and am wondering if I should have this done beforehand. Thanks in advance.

Hey Jim- Don't fix what ain't broke, and avoid adding weight whilst disturbing the beautiful Hydrodynamic Lines of your Prism!
You might also note Cliff Jacobson's guidance on this issue, which is a big Thumbs Down on skid plates. [Cliff is well known for his lack of subtlety.] As I recall, Cliff advises folks to instead lightly coat abraded areas with the same adherents used to build the kevlar hull. I am told that Wenonah & Northstar both use vinyl ester, which can be purchased from Express Composites in Minneapolis MN.
The best advice for keeping your lovely Prism in tip top shape, is to do wet foot entries and exits. If you are new to solo boats, do practice this on your local home waters, as even the best of us have had the first couple of tries of wet foot entries turn into wet foot entry/whole wet body exit!
Best of luck, see you on the waters!

Thanks you for your advice, NMJim. I will strongly consider that. Not opposed at all to the wet foot entries and exits. Always have done trips in tandems before so that was never a concern. First solo is coming up in June, ever since my first tip to the BW I’ve thought I would like to go solo once at least. Very much looking forward to it.

I bought the boat with the plate. Ben on this forum was the original owner. Sounded like it’s fairly straightforward to do it yourself.
