Hi friends,

I am a guy in my 30s who has a normal steady job that allows me to get to the BWCA area at least once a month year round (yes, I love winter camping). That has also allowed me to bank vacation and sick time that has to be used. I am a very capable and amicable chap who loves the outdoors and helping people. Any chance there is some kind of outfitter that needs some help for a week or two? I can guide/fish/haul canoes/tie stuff/cut wood/help people or do whatever is needed. Jack of all trades. Just thought I would throw it out there. Feel free to email, call/text or connect with any questions, etc. Thanks!

You certainly can reach out to a couple and ask. Early and Late season when they don't have college staff they can be pretty tight on help.

Deadline to apply was March 2018. Might be a bit too late

I just seen this posted recently, a few weeks back and it was current for 2022. I don't recall where I had seen the posting but that link above was not it. There were several postings I believe one in Ely and the other in grand Marais.

Well given the application deadline was March 2018 I think he missed it by a bit.

+1 on contacting some of the outfitters in the Ely/BWCA area. Everyone up there last year was having a hard time finding any help. This year will be better but there will still likely be a great need. If you are going to Canoecopia, there will be businesses and outfitters from the area you could visit with. The challenge may be your short commitment time. Maybe if you're willing to work for meals/lodging that may make it more appealing - on the short term. The sooner you reach out to folks, the better luck you're likely to have.

Lot of outfitters looking for help, especially in the early and late seasons before or after their summer help is there
