I've changed the contents of this wallet a half dozen times but reverted back to a simple mission. I have a healthy respect for both hypothermia and dehydration and wanted something back-pocket sized and waterproof to carry the items I most needed. Before I decided on wanting a 1L / 1qt sized water carrier, I had this wallet full of other items like fishing line, hooks, first aid items, copper snare wire, etc. I figured that I could just drink from the lake in an emergency and worry about crypto or giardia later. Then I thought about being able to carry water if bushwacking in the woods was needed. The folded Whirl Pak bag just barely fits in this slim, comfortable wallet along with some treatment tablets on one side. The rest of the wallet is devoted to making fire with stormproof matches, a fire steel and striker and some Quick Light fire-starters. A small knife is beneath the striker on the left and a good compass was added due to some extra room. So, yes, it's pretty basic but it's comfortably in my back pocket at all times, waterproof and able to deal with my two main concerns.

I like it. Are the waterproof matches inside the straws marked M?

Yes they are as are the QuikLights. They're all supposed to be waterproof from the maker but I like redundancy when water is involved! Cheap insuance.

The biggest challenge is fitting it out with thin items. I ended up sanding down one side of my 1/4" fire steel to fit well. There simply isn't much depth to be had but that's also why it carries so well in the back pocket. There is also a lanyard to attach the wallet for security to a belt or belt loop if your pocket isn't zippered.

I have some infused twine that I'd also put in there for fire starting. Blackbeard brand. Pelican also has a larger version of it for a phone and a few other things that I'll get for my wife for our recreational trips.

Thanks for the idea! I ordered two. Will put fire starter stuff in one, maybe water purifier stuff in the other.
