We don’t encourage playing with even one match here. Oh wait... you're talking about Jerry... he is from that area... I’ll leave this for him.

Yeah, me too... that is why I was wondering.

Yes! As things have opened up here is our (myself and Caitlin) current schedule in Nashvile:

April 7: Urban Cowboy b&b Parlor concert 7pm

May 12: The Bluebird Cafe 6pm

We have out of town dates in Eminence, MO on June 20, Delano, MN on July 3 and Kansas City on Sept 17. We're hoping to book dates before and after the Delano and KC gigs but nothing is solid yet.

As others become available, I'll be updating our calendar at www.caitandjerry.com as well as paddlesongs.com and jerryvandiver.com

Thanks for asking.
Jerry

I've got another question for you; do you ever wake from a dream with a song or part of a song in your head? I am not a musician, but love music. I swear I have music in my dreams often. If you look at time stamp of this post you might wonder if I just woke up from such a dream? Answer is yes. Not, a song that is familiar to me. Maybe something original rattling around up there. Of course, not talented enough ro write it down or even reproduce it. I was just wondering....

I can't speak for Jerry, but just the other day I had a riff rattle around for a few and I recorded it on my phone for future use. Hopefully, it will be complete enough for me to remember. That's the first time that's happened to me, but I think it's because I have been playing a lot more, and messing around with some recording.

Yes, most definitely. Sometimes I'm smart enough to reach for a recorder and put it in so when I'm truly awake, I can work on it. Often times it actually isn't very good when I'm fully awake.

Once, however, I was writing a song and really struggling with the melody and not convinced it was right. That night I had a dream that had a different melody in it. Fortunately, my dog Zoey woke me up and I put that melody down and I'm quite happy with it. It's on my Paddle On CD and the song is called "The Milky Way Waltz" and I've had a very nice response to it. I gave Zoey co-writing credit just for grins.

Other times, I have a melody and I think I'll remember it and go back to sleep without recording it. That never works.
