I was really impressed with the new VersiGunwale system from Wenonah, not quite impressed enough to talk myself into a new canoe but I did like it . It did get me thinking if anyone has installed the aftermarket tracks to the aluminum gunwales on their Kevlar canoes? To my surprise, I didn’t find anything with the search on this website and really nothing on the rest of the internet. I found a few where they mounted to a yoke or even a flat carbon fiber thwart but I am thinking of something closer to the seats on the gunwale. I picked up one of the smaller sections of track from YakAttack this past weekend at canoecopia just to have a piece at home to see how it will line up. It does seem that I could make it work both on top of the gunwale or even mounted on the side just under the lip of the gunwale pointing into the canoe. I will probably give it a shot but was hoping to see a few ideas or any long term wear issues. There are so many accessories for the track if it works it seems like it could be quite nice. For context, we have a Wenonah Boundary Water canoe

Hmm, interesting. I see that you can buy mounting systems for kayaks that you could certainly screw to a thwart.

Anyone have experience with accessories that mount to these new VersiGunwales?

I have not used these on a canoe, but I have 6 of the rails on my Old Town Kayak. The difference is my rails are on the top, and these are on the inside. But the principal is the same. I mount all kinds of gear to these like Depth finder, 2-paddle holders, rope cleats, 2-tie downs, rod holders, drink holders, anchor pin brackets. You will love this upgrade if you decide to get these. The possibilities are endless on how you can trick out your canoe. I primarily use Yakattack gear to attach to my rails.
