Do you add a split ring or swivel to spoons that don't have one? (such as the Little Cleo pictured below, which doesn't have a split ring where you tie onto it)

If so, any special brand/style/size of split ring or swivel?

Thanks for any input!

If you're using a snap it doesn't much matter but I would definitely put one on if tying direct.

Ball-bearing swivel for me. Even then the line will be twisted by end of the week.

I tie a snap swivel to the line and add a split ring to the lures. Not sure why, just have always done it that way.

I add a ball bearing swivel, with a split ring, to my little cleos. I wouldn't do that for other spoons though. Little cleos are for trout and go deep enough that you don't tend to catch northers with them, so I don't add a leader. Other spoons that are more shallow, I would use with a leader so I don't bother to double up on the swivels.

I don't add only split rings though. I don't see the point. It just seems like more gear to me. Gear is something I try to cut down on instead of finding reasons to add more.
