Has anyone used the big agnes mica basin camp chair or their sky line UL chair? I'm looking for first hand reviews of the big agnes chairs. I want to upgrade my chair this year and am thinking about getting one of these instead of a helinox because I can get a really good deal on the Big Agnes gear.

With that said, I don't know if I like the bend in the chair legs of the UL chair. Looks like one wrong move in the chair and you have a broken pole. The Mica Basin Chair looks a little better constructed and still packs down quite a bit smaller than my current chair. Anyone have any first hand experience or reviews of this chair?

Thanks and cheers!

I bought the BA Micah Basin Chair last year and used it on my BW Trip in mid Sept.
I'm 5'10" or so and #220. I like the higher seat than you get with the Helinox chairs.
It's easier to get up and out of. (I'm 76 so not as flexible as I used to be)
My trip partner had a helinox and his seat was about 2" off the mud.
He's not quite as old as me but he still had to kinda roll out of his chair to get up.
The Micah Basin is rated to #300 so I figured that there was a vbuilt-in safety factor there.

I have no experience with any but the Big Six, and that uses curved seat and back poles. But they are keyed together and cannot twist in the cross bar. The Big Six is quite sturdy in the framing.

The BA Mica has the same set up.. just a low back version.. Great sturdy chair with a seat height similar to a toilet...

Very happy with it...But just also ordered a NEMO Moonlite Recliner from REI to do a review between the two... Slightly lighter but a few inches shorter

I have both the Mica Basin and the Skyline UL. The MB has a slightly higher seat and is a bit wider and taller, but not a lot, than the SKUL. I moved up to the MB for the added room, but both are comfortable, sturdy, no issues. I like that they sit you up a bit more than the Helinox and REI chairs, easier to get out of - as LS45 mentioned. Also easier to cook, eat and play cards from. If you like to recline more, go with the others. They pack down smaller due to the all metal construction and no plastic knuckles, also = sturdier. The curves in the legs is NOT an issue. The Big 6 has a higher seat height and is bigger/heavier overall than the MB. I have owned the MB for at least 3 years and the SKUL for probably 5, no issues with quality or comfort. The biggest risk is your buddies trying to re-appropriate them!

I also have this, and it is sturdy. However, at 230#, my rear end bottoms out (no pun intended) on the cross bar under the seat and that makes it uncomfortable-and unfortunate given the price.
