What sizes/colors/kinds of jigs do you bring on your BWCA trips? I have more than I would ever need but there is always room for some more.

My favorites are the 1/8 northland RZ jig in firetiger for use with a leech and 1/4 oz vmc mooneye for using with a plastic. When using a plastic I always try to make the color of my jig head contrast with the trailer. The thought here is I’m trying to trigger a reaction bite.

I bought some 1/8 lindy live bait jigs in glow this year for soaking under a bobber with a leech after dark, thinking they might be the ticket.

I may be in the minority here, but I prefer a heavier jig head. Most of the time I use a 3/8 ounce one tipped with either a live bait or plastic. The reason is that I like to jig as vertical as possible. This helps me with hook set and also lessens snagging up on rocks. Just one fisherman's opinion. Waiting to hear others -- I am not opposed to learning to catch more fish

I have best luck with a 3/8 oz green or firetiger color and a leech. The darker the water the brighter the jig.

When using a 3/8 oz jig are you fishing only vertically? If so, how deep?

I catch the most walleyes on a black jig head, so I always fish with a black jig.

We try to locate fish on some kind of structure whether it is a hump mid lake or a point. The depth can be anywhere from a few feet to up to 30 feet. The deeper it gets with a little or moderate wind, it is harder to keep vertical. A wind sock helps to slow down the drift to stay over fish a little longer.
