After some post where we were supposed to I think post a picture of us with our dog he was like... hey nctry, we met before Bwca.com... (this is after attending more then one wing night together)... he recognized Bernice my dog from an encounter on a portage. Of course back then he was paddling with Diva and we met on the Shell Lake portage. Diana loved up my dog so Mark had to go back and retrieve everything! Haha! We had a good chat, all of us. Weird part is I don’t usually do that. Especially pre Bwca.com!
Old JB was a great friend to many. Other good memory is on my forty day trip I was forced out of the BW briefly by a fire. I took the opportunity to resupply and such. And our friend Zulu brought me over to Fenski Lake campgrounds where JB and company were camping and enjoyed a great campfire! Always a smile, very big heart!!! He will be missed by many...

I was so sorry to get the news yesterday. He was definitely one of a kind
He will be missed. Hung out at many a Wing night campout. He always wanted my Chicken Wild Rice Soup and was disappointed if I didnt make it. Was honored to have known him. RIP JB.

First words out of his mouth after hugging kanoes... did Trix bring her soup??
Those two are likely looking down with arms around each other more worried about their friends left behind then themselves.

Mark was a great guy and everyone really liked him.
He loved camping and the BWCA. He was at most Wingnights and it was fun to hang around him.
I thought of him the other day because he had the ability to see better than most in the dark. The Military tested him in the dark and he could see people nobody else could. He helped retrieve MIA remains in a dangerous mission. He liked being a Marine. He liked Pan Heads.
The above photos were taken in 2013 a year after he recovered from a terrible motorcycle accident when a car turned in front of him. He almost died and it was a terrible long road to recovery but he did it. He was tough but caring and nice.
I'm so sorry to hear this.
Thanks for your service and your company jb.

Sad news indeed. JB was a fun guy. My youngest and I were in that group photo. We both are wearing black. Alyssa was around 16? Of course, we saw Mark at wing nites too. He will be missed. Sigh!
Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.

I only knew him on here but always enjoyed exchanges with him. I appreciate hearing more from those of you who knew him well and learning more about what a great person he was. My condolences and hopes for strength go out to his family. Losing someone suddenly is so very hard.

Rest in peace, Mark. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet you. Condolences to the family.

Thanks for letting us know Paul. May he RIP and condolences to his family. He was kind and a great canoeist to share a few or more drinks with.

Really sorry to hear that. I never met him but we did some gear trading over the years, he was pretty easy to get along with. Definitely not a front porch guy, he loved to get out and see things.
