FYI, I just tried this and it didn't work on their site. Was it for a specific retailer, or directly from them?

I haven't been keeping up with the latest food carry restrictions. Are the Ursack bags approved to use this year in the BWCA?

Yes, you can use them this year. They were approved last year after a change made to the original order. That order was rescinded earlier this year.

You could use them under the original order before the amendment, but you would have had to "hang 'em high" same as hanging a food pack. I use the OPsacks and try to follow all the guidelines on their website.

What are your thoughts on choosing the Ursack Major vs the Almighty. Is the Almighty worth the cost? Opsak y/n?

I’m just one voice, but I have two of the Majors and am happy with them. I have not had any trouble with mice or squirrels since I started using them for part of my food storage 3 years ago (8 trips). Maybe it’s because I use the Opsaks inside, and for dog food even add a second supposedly scent proof bag. But then again on my 25-30 trips I’ve never had any issue with mice or squirrels though it seems like a lot of others have.

I only have the Majors and use the OPsacks inside, sometimes another too. I've never had trouble with the "other critters" either. I have minimal odor to begin with and don't create much additional by just adding boiling water. I try not to get any food odors on the Ursack. I think there's a lot of good information in This video

Approved by whom? Curious what you are referring to.

On their previous sale, I picked up a couple of AllMiteys. Don’t think they are necessary for mice and squirrels. But I got them for the fearsome animal on the package that we have out here. Raccoons. Fortunately, don’t think those critters have made it to the BW yet.

Last year's food storage order for the BW issued by the powers that be.

Thanks, boonie. Was not aware that had happened.

Yeah, it was real confusion for a while. It may have been applied to the whole SNF at one point. And the fires and closures.
