Anyone know why Google maps is showing the Crab lake portage as closed?

Very interesting...I know there have been property line disputes (public vs private), hopefully that's not becoming an issue again. Perhaps extensive storm damage and repairs are needed but not sure why/how that would trigger google to label it temporarily closed. Maybe someone at the DNR or forest service would know.

It's a long portage but sure has some unique and scenic features.

A guess: Google Maps are not very accurate in terms of closings and openings. This may just be unchanged from last year's fire closures and is now incorrect. I think anyone can report an opening or closing to Google. Lots of stores and restaurants were changed to temporarily closed in the pandemic and are now open but still listed closed in my experience. If in doubt, check with the Forest Service.

Google has been showing a lot of portages and campsites as closed lately. My guess is that google considers the BW a summer destination. Just assume google is wrong.
