Supposed to do a thru-hike of the Kek soon, but someone just posted to a FB page that they had attempted and just west of the Agamok Bridge, a beaver pond/dam blew out, and now there is class 5 rapids running through the trail!!!

Not sure the chances of that being a trickle again, and being able to cross it within the next month..

So… anyways… thoughts on alternate places to hike?

I know the Kek can be notoriously wet with Beaver dams… parts of Angleworm are also completely flooded, someone posted the POW WOW was mostly wet feet but passable…

Are any of the BWCA trails drier? What about Snowbank/Dissapointment?

I already have a thru-hike of the BRT planned later this year, so not interested in doing that as my alt…

Maybe I’ll just turn my trip into a paddling trip. Hehehe.

I suspect you'll find extreme conditions at some point on all trails.

Look at the North Country Trail in Minnesota or the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. Might not have the vistas that the Superior Hiking Trail has, but still either is really nice.

Just be very mindful of ticks. They are thick. Tuck your pants into your socks and use permethrin.
