We are going into Rush & Banadad soon, but can't decide whether to go via Iron Lake or Poplar Lake. We have done the Poplar - Skipper - Rush before so are familiar with it. If anyone has done one of these this spring I would appreciate your thoughts.

I'd stick with the skipper route. Pretty sure the way in thru iron crosses a snowmobile trail (outside bwca) and also the banadad ski trail. Maintence probably has not been done on either with the other issues of high water, could be quite swampy in there. And the bugs are pretty bad according to a conversation I had earlier today with a pal up on the Trail

Our party just completed this exact route. The portages from Iron Lake to Rush are fine, maybe a little less used but not impassible. Down trees etc were not a problem. You will cross the Banadad ski trail but that’s a non-issue. I’ve never used the skipper lake route access so I cant speak to comparative difficulty but the Iron lake entry is shorter distance portaging.

Thanks for the input. I've now got a few days to decide. Any word on the campsites on those lakes?

Which Entry Point do you have a permit for?
