I like this part a lot!

"Exceptionally, all RABC permits issued in the 2022 season will be valid from the date the permit is issued until December 31, 2023."

I noticed that too. You can maybe get a few trips in under one RABC!

Only if the Canadian customs station on Sand Point Lake and the LLC ranger station are both open. RABC permits aren’t needed to enter Q at LLC.

Well, if LLC ranger station opened and Sand Point Lake didn't, could you use an RABC? Just a thought.

One would think....and prior to Covid if you wanted a tow to Bottle Portage and canoe/camp on the US side (BWCA only) you could get a tow from Anderson's without stopping at the Sand Point CBSA Customs. I've done that in the past.

I thought I was being smart and submitted my application early by mail. Got a phone call today from the border services agency saying that I used the wrong form (I used the form that was up on their website at the time) Just as well because I regretted not sending it by email, so now I can.

Only difference in the form I can see is that the new one requires you to name where you are entering. BWCA/Quetico is one of the choices.

Did you download a form to fill out and upload that? Or purely copy the text and edit with your info in the email body? The website is not giving me a pdf or anything to download, is it not an actual form anymore?

My son and I just submitted our applications on December 26 and 19 respectively using the form noted by plander and just ignored the COVID requirement stuff. CBSA did confirm/post the removal of all COVID requirements back in October - BUT just like any government entity it seems, efficiency and timely forms updates are not their strong suit. We both received approved permits, me on the 24th (great xmas present - thanks CBSA!) and he on the 30th, so less than a week each. The process was pretty smooth, except one note. On my initial email application, they replied back that the BSF-386 was blank. I double checked the attachment pdf that I sent them and the data was all in there. Dunno?! So I printed the form, signed page 2 and 3, then took a pic of the pages, attached them as jpeg's, resent the email and all was good from there. When we did my son's application, we just attached the jpeg's of his form right off and all was good with his. Just make sure the pics you take are of high enough resolution that they are perfectly clear.

Got my family RABC last summer as soon as it opened. Just realized that my son turned 18 in November. Even though he is on the one from this summer for the family he/we probably need to get one done for him.

Just kind of donned on me reading the previous post about father and son doing them separately.

That form worked just fine. Submitted January 4, received approval January 13.

9 day turn around currently, not bad

Thanks for the form.

So with ArriveCan app now optional...is all you need an RABC and your Quetico permit?

There's no customs check-in or any other customs step besides having a valid RABC in-hand...correct?

You still have to pick up your permit after getting your RABC.

@ sns - correct, RABC and Permit. IF you're using a RABC, then you're going in via one of the southern entries (Cache Bay, Prairie Portage) where there is no Customs - THAT is your CBSA approved 'customs by mail' or in this case email. You are required to have that but the Ranger Station will not ask for it or check for it - there's a story behind that... If you drive (or fly) across the border then you're going through customs and don't need the RABC and it's not valid for that anyway.

As for the permit - that is a park permit and while the Ranger Station can bring up your reservation with your info, you should have a copy with you or at least the reservation number. They still have to issue you the actual "permit" at the Ranger Station as you enter.
