Gary, I love your slide shows. I watched the slide show of your May trip while planning my July trip. Watching and listening to your slideshows is an enjoyable mood setting pass time prior to and after my trips.

I was in the bwca the same week this year in July but in a different area. I was sitting at camp one evening watching a family of mergansers aka Sawbills similar to the ones in your closing photo. They looked so peaceful and happy. I know nothing about wildlife so when 2 eagles flew near I was hoping that they would not attack the Sawbills. I don't know if that ever happens. Anyway, another pleasant slide show.

Thanks, John

Thanks John! I would say young mergansers are definitely at risk to eagles. Also, the mom was keeping them grouped really close together... big northern have been known to pick off stragglers!

Beautiful pictures and great memories. I look back at our first trip with our son there when he was 13 and realize it's the last trip he still looked like a kid. The 16 years went by way to fast since then. So wonderful to have time to spend before the pressures of high school and college take over.

There's so many merganser babies! Poor mama.

Very nice slide show. I was struck by the photo of you and your grandson - same height. My g-son just turned 14 and he is almost 2” taller than my 6’.

Thanks everyone for watching and commenting.
Yes, it was a special trip! The comments about the height are funny... I guess since he's a growing boy and I am a shrinking old man, he's liable to catch up ;-)

Even funnier is that I just posted another YouTube trip report of a trip with his 11 year old brothers... they look the same height as me too. But I can claim they are standing on a higher slope of the rock :-)
