Any tips on how you manage switching from tenting to hanging with your dog?

Our dog slept in our tent. Now that we are hanging, we're not sure how to deal. She does not like to be separated from us. Also, we wouldn't want her to be exposed mosquitoes and such.

On solution may be for one of us to hang in the no bug zone shelter (as they are made to accommodate a hammock. Not ideal but doable.

But just wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation and how you have conditioned your hound.

They make small dog tents that would probably fit under your tarp

Begin with a test run at home, you in hammock, your pooch in a tent next to you and see how it goes. If it works out invest in a Pup tent.

I struggled with this too. Ended up just having my dog sleep in my Nemo bug tent and hanging my hammock nearby. He is very well behaved and would never mess with any gear left with him in the tent. Although he never wanders out of my sight I did keep him on a leash that was staked to the ground just for the peace of mind.
It was his first trip to the BWCA and he had a blast. Most nights he was so exhausted I don’t think he even stirred. I felt good knowing he was comfortable away from all the bugs.

I made a small tent for the dog to sleep under the hammock tarp next to me:
Casa de Cerberus

Dutchware Gear sells something similar:
Pup Tent
