Hi, just curious if anyone has done this relatively recently and if there is anything particular we should be aware of in terms of current conditions. Also curious if you prefer clockwise or counterclockwise, any favorite campsites along the way, etc.

I'll be watching the responses you get as I will be entering Baker EP on the 11th and doing the loop up around Cherokee then down to Sawbill.

Have a safe trip.

It's been 3 years since I did the loop from Cherokee so no recent intel, but I did it CCW. Offhand I'd say there's probably not much reason to do it one way over the other.

I did it two years ago, going clockwise from Sawbill. The main thing to keep in mind, I think, is the water level. Ada Creek, particularly the section between Ada and Skoop Lakes can be very shallow and difficult to navigate if water levels are low. Lots of rock bumpin'. I would imagine they would be near their lowest in September. The smaller island site in the SE corner of Cherokee (near the Sitka portage) is magical.
