I will be trying to get some lake brookies. It seems Little Cleos are a popular spoon. Not sure what size to get? Can anyone help?

Thanks. I fish for trout in southeastern Minnesota quite a bit so I have a lot of panther martins. I use some crappie jigs, too.

My son makes some spinners so I'll have a few of those. I will be bringing plugs and I ordered a few different spoons.

Hopefully we will eat grouse and trout in a couple weeks!

toggy , while your at camp chill'n , always a good idea to soak a whole crawler slip sinker set up with a little air or on a phelps floater(top mid of pic). caught many a brookie on that set-up ;) i bring a rod up just for a shore fishing set up so when i get out the canoe at camp i'm fishing right away again. My Motto is "keep your line wet good things will happen" Positivity Brother :)
cast out , open up your bail set a small rock on your line and watch , i dont recommend a loose drag for brookies like i would for lakers. keep the bail open and let'm take line , it's a beautiful thing :)
until you realize it's a sucker :( happen to a friend of mine as i told him there are suckers in here , cuse it was a fight. i laughed at the timing LOL

Get some Mepps #3 bucktails if you want to put some Brookies in the canoe. They go nuts with these. I have also caught them up there on a Rapala in a Brook trout pattern.

Brook trout typically only live for 6 years and take 1.5 to 2.5 years to reach sexual maturity. Stream-dwelling brook trout grow to a maximum length of 7 to 9 inches. Brook trout or coasters from the Great Lakes can grow to bigger sizes of up to 25 inches and 10 pounds.

It went well. We caught a few and ate one. Little cleo and panther martin #6 worked well. Because of catch and release mortality we didn't keep going after them. Even got a grouse to eat with the trout!
