Calling all fungi experts. I found this specimen on the Gaskin-to-Horseshoe portage. I am at a loss as to its identification. Can anyone help? It was about 3 inches across.

Google says it's Clavaria zollingeri but I don't know if Google counts as a mushroom expert. I'm certainly not but seems like a plausible answer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavaria_zollingeri

Didn't Ego plant something like that on Earth in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. We're screwed.

Thanks. The reference image certainly looks very similar to my picture.

We have that at our cabin in southern Ohio and just found some over Labor Day but it wasn't purple. That is awesome! I always just refer to it as coral fungus because it looks like it belongs in the ocean or an aquarium

Coral fungi (Clavariaceae) also known as Antler fungi, Finger fungi, Worm mold, and Spaghetti mushroom. First classified by French botanist Francois Fulgis Chevalier in 1826.

Mocha: "It’s edible?"

Maybe. See under "Description" in the Wikipedia article linked by pretty paddle.
