Hi friends,

Does anyone know about fishing Peterson Lake just off of Baker Lake EP 39? Specifically in mid October? Just looking at maps it does not look very deep or good for fishing, but wondering if there is someone who knows better than I do? The DNR LakeFinder shows mostly suckers and maybe a few small walleye. Don't know the first thing about suckers but maybe there are northern in there? Would Kelly Lake be better? Looks like a quick paddle up there but again, looks shallow so not sure if that would support decent fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You would be correct, it's pretty shallow through there. I have had decent luck trolling shallow diving crankbaits while paddling through. Also around any current areas between lakes are good spots to drop a jig and twister or a rapala. I would definitely head up toward Kelly and or Jack using similar techniques. Seem to have better luck there and have chance at bass and northern too. Also a good area to see Moose! Hope you have a good trip!
