Ok fishing gurus, I am stumped! I bought a tacklebox at a flea market that was jam packed with lures, spoons, old reels, etc. etc... I found two of the lures in the pictures still in an unopened package. I really have never seen anything like them. Appear to be wooden and hand painted. Any ideas???

Maybe some kind of spoon? Not really sure, an interesting find though!

Send an email to the fishing lure guru, Gene Davis (genedavis160@charter.net). He will know what it is or will spend the rest of the week figuring it out.

That's cool, be fun to catch a nice fish on it. Any other interesting finds in the batch.

The tackle box was filled with mostly junk! But it did have a bunch of old walleye rigs, still in the original package, a bunch of spoons and lots of assorted tackle. One of the things I thought was cool, it had three yo yo reels, or I think that is what they are called. All three appear to be in working order. Haven't seen those since I was a kid! It also had a really old Shakespeare reel. The other lure that is made like the one in the picture is painted differently. I'll take a pic of it tonight and post.

Looks to me like some sort a weedless spoon, but it's a little hard to clearly see due to the packaging. The weedless spoon used to be much more popular (50+ years ago) than it is today.

Ok ODF69... what are you going to do with these lures. Use 'em? Display them? Bury in your tacklebox?

Remember: Don't tie on any lure you can't afford to lose.

I actually think I might add to my vintage lure display I have. Since they are hand painted, by the looks of them, I thought they were really interesting. I honestly have not seen anything like them before.
