I’m thinking of branching out to some new water this year and bringing some noobies here for a basecamp fishing trip in mid July 2023.

The lake finder survey is one to salivate over.

Has anybody had success fishing this lake mid summer?

The depth map looks like a bowl so I’m thinking points and the mouths of bays will be the ticket. With the relatively shallow maximum depth I’m hoping shoreline topwater bass fishing will still be rocking mid summer. Without much structure to hold fish I’m thinking it could be a tough trip if fish aren’t congregating around those spots.

Any tips and tricks regarding fishing and campsites would be greatly appreciated.

Fished it many times over the last 30 years. There is a rock pile , and a scattered boulder area out in the middle. That is where I fish 90% of the time if it is not windy. That lake can be dangerous in the wind. I also fish around the big island. I have coordinates where the reef is if you decide to go.

Nothing came through directly but that map is awesome. Infinitely more detailed than the one on LakeFinder.

Did you map that yourself with an auto chart depth finder? What is the scale of the contour lines?

Thanks a bunch!!

Hi Hammertime - the map posted by Blutofish is available using the Navionics phone app or Web app when viewing the SonarChart data for Big Moose, so user generated data. The official navionics data is the same as the Lakefinder map with 5' contours. The contour lines are 1' for the available SonarChart data. The web app is free to browse, so worth checking out.
