BWCA facing north. If this doesn't get guessed this afternoon, I'll post a clue tonight to keep this game going.

No one's there yet.

The number of campsites on this lake is a pretty big question mark. I think the official number is 3, but there is quite the variety depending on the map. Some modern maps only show one, most show two, and some old maps show as many as five!

There's one portage.

sns: "Alworth"
Got it! Next one up.

The campsite on the north end by the portage always gets marked. The hiking site on the south end gets marked occasionally. The one on the island doesn't show up on my printed maps, but supposedly is still in place. One of my oldest maps also shows a site on the peninsula to the north of the island and two on the eastern shore. To me, Alworth seems a strange lake to have more than a couple sites since where is anyone going to travel? Muzzle? The photo is from our annual Trek or Treat hike last October when the crew stayed on the south hiking site.

The island campsite on Alworth was still there as of 2021. We were camped at the portage site between Ima and Alworth when a scout crew came through and camped paddled over there. They came back through the next day and said it was a pretty nice site.
