Lots of portaging on either of the two possible routes. I suspect this is a 3-day trip assuming you sleep a little each night and paddle/portage at least 12 hours a day. Put in early on day 1, and be out before sunset on the third.
PP has it showing 84 miles if you take the Sawbill route and single-portage. There will be more traffic on this route especially from Sawbill Westward through the lady chain. If you planned on night paddling then of course you could cut this way down and pick the perfect time to be portaging to avoid jams.
With that said, I am sure it could be done in 48 hours if someone really wanted to push it and cover about 40 miles per day, but with this much portaging it relies almost solely on your ability to get across land quickly with your gear and pretty much no stopping unnecessarily.

I would say 3 to 3.5 days. 1st day: EP to somewhere between Brule and Sawbill. 2nd day travel to somewhere between Malberg and Alice. If you have been able to cover ground on either of these days, you could push to the end on day 3, otherwise get as far as you can and finish early on day 4. If you can push thru Sawbill and past Alton either early morn or late evening, you won't have much traffic at portages.
This sounds like quite an adventure. Let us know how it goes. Is there a link for this challenge?
