Good to hear this.

I hope the food will still be the best in Atikokan.

This reminds me of the tiny town near where I have a farm. All the bars have their own T-shirts, but then those shirts all also say "One of the best three bars in XXXXX".

They're not wrong, and I hope for the same with White Otter.

Well, not much competition, if one is honest.

There are two places downtown Atikokan that are pretty good - PJ's Pizza and The Outdoorsman. They're side-by-side. In the times we've been there, the beer was cold and the pizza was tasty. (Ironically, they both serve pizza.) They fed us well.

PJ's pizza is very good. When I was there last summer, they had a For Sale sign up though. I hope they stayed in business.

We also had a nice dinner at PJ's last summer, but the next morning's breakfast left us worrying about future paddlers' breakfasts--had a great breakfast at Robin's, but discovered it was her last day in business. We wish the best for Atikokan, but so many of her businesses appear very stressed.

Are you sure about that? It's still open according Mr. Google. They are the only place in town open early. They were always doing a steady business the last few times I was there.

Argo, I'm only sure that when we had breakfast there the morning of August 26 last year, signs on the door and inside announced that it was the last day of business. The owner gave us a Robin's ballpoint pen as we checked out. Because Robin's Donuts is a chain (and, I assume, a franchise) it's very possible that a new owner has reopened the business. I hope so, and Mr. Google is usually pretty current on business hours.

There is also an Asian food restaurant and bar in town.

In late August last year PJ’s was no more.
