In the signup window, when it says "Alerts are by month for all entry points," does my email alert look like the database image you posted? Would an alert be sent every time any EP changed for the month I signed up? Does it alert only when a previously unavailable date (zero permits) becomes available? How does one cancel a particular requested alert?

And, is this recreation.gov data something that is searchable on one's own, or does it take a tech wizard such as yourself?

Is this new? I didn’t know it existed. And some magic to tie the databases together. Innteerresting.

The email alerts look roughly like this based on 30-minute monitoring. We realized that someone might be interested in only one entry point, but we thought we would implement it to give people options. And see what the feedback is.

It only alerts when a permit becomes available. So for instance these two snowbanks permit dates were sold out 30 minutes prior to this notification going out.

The cancel button is in the same place as the subscribe button for any given month.

The scale of this data is still something that we are trying to keep cost-effective and run the alerting process efficiently so we aren't planning to give any heavy query access or options to anyone or any process. Certainly, a point of discussion in the off-season if this interest someone like yourself.

Yes, new feature. Lots and lots of data.

This is coool. But heads up, the data for OM permits is not working. It just repeats the OP permit numbers instead. (Tested for Moose and Saganaga).

Thanks, adam. I can only imagine the huge amount of data being stored for this, not to mention the load on servers to fetch and send out the info.

As I understand it, Moose/25 and Sag/55 is one permit pool for both overnight motor or overnight paddle so they should match. 15 Sag permits per day regardless if they are OM or OP.

To me it looks like recreation.gov is displaying the information incorrectly, but I am happy to be corrected if someone knows this like the back of their hand.

Oh, us motor heathens WISH that were the case. There is an additional weekly quota applied to Overnight Motor permits on top of the daily entry quotas. Often, of all the daily overnight entry permits for an entire week, the number of those that are allowed to be booked as OM might be 10%.

For the vast majority of the summer, all OM permits are spoken for except Trout, LLC, and Little Vermillion.

It sounds like there is already a lot of work involved in this, and motorboats aren't really the boat of choice for most on this board -- but this kind of availability notification would be INCREDIBLY helpful for this segment of the user base.

Permit alerts have now been expanded to allow individual entry point alerts.

Lots of great permits open up each day like a Lake One on 7-5.

The following are permit alerts that have gone out in April so far. Overall, we saw 185 overnight paddle permits become available during April. And 52 Overnight Motor permits. Learn more about permit alerts.

Gonna bump this by saying this service is incredible! Received an email today that a permit opened up in late June for a LIS/EP 14 permit; how freaking cool is that?

Adam, I think you need to hype this service on the Listening Point forum. I do not travel to the BW much anymore, but this sure beats the heck out of checking Rec.gov on a regular basis to see if permits have become available-especially for those who want to travel in June/July/August.
