After several starts and stops I finally got a trip report done for last years solo. After reading through the "Getting Older" thread this one is a little bit about that. I was 65, retired and was determined to get one more big solo trip in to WCPP. I had a plan A which was very aggressive and a plan B if my age caught up with me on the trip. There is also a very important lesson in the report. I knew all the precautions and things to take extra care with on a solo, yet except I got careless. If you don't want to read the whole thing (it is long) at least read Day 16.

Hey Hobbydog,
Your trip report was fascinating! I enjoyed the read. Thank you for telling the story of your adventure. It looked like you had amazing fishing, plenty of solitude, gorgeous scenery, numerous encounters with wildlife, and an overall excellent time.
The twin moose calves swimming and exiting the water sure were cool! Sorry you lost your fishing rod...looked like your canoe almost floated away at one point too. My favorite photo, not sure why, was the one with sunshine and rain. Neat experience, I'm sure. Actually, I also really appreciated the many photos you had of calm waters. What a joy and pleasure to paddle!
Thanks for sharing your trip!

Really enjoyed your report, Bill. Great pictures. I see myself getting complacent sometimes even though I know better, but I've been lucky so far . . . good reminder. Complacent is only easy until it isn't. Recent years have been a struggle between "what I want to do" and "what I can do", but have still been good.
