Looks like a Superior siscowet-fatty. Anyone know what kind of trout that is?

What I want to know is how does one drill a second hole while someone's arm is down the original hole? And how does that transfer from hole #1 to hole #2 go down with 2 ft of ice and a live 50 lb lake trout?
Just curious is all.

drill a second hole directly adjacent to the first hole and then use an ice saw to connect them and form one big hole?

You just drill the second Hole adjacent to the first to expand the size. The second hole became part of the first hole. It probably only needed to be a bit bigger. Yea…doing that while her arm was down the hole, there could be a possibility for injury, but very small.

The fish died so I am guessing the extended hour long fight is what killed it. By the time she grabbed it the fish probably didn’t do any fighting any more.

I just saw this the other day. You can actually see in the one picture with the fish indoors that the belly is shredded from the auger.

amazing fish, sometimes like humans you just get a fast-growing fish, but that fish had to be 60 years old plus at least.

They sent the fin to the MNR to see the fish’s age…I hope they report that publicly. Like Pinetree I am very curious to the age and think your guess has to be close.
