We've had big snow in April and thankfully it usually doesn't last long.
Hang in there. Pine tree, u haven't seen a skeeter yet have you?

No skeeters or deer ticks yet.
Yes when it finally warms up there is going to be a lot of water and no fire ban.

I was going to head up early tomorrow for a solo winter trip with the hound. Fish the last of trout season mid Gunflint Trail and come out on Saturday. In between not being sure if she would be postholing all the time with the current snow depth conditions and the forecast, I have called it off.
Wind, wind, wind for the next 4 days and nights. With possible new snow blowing around. Not a fan of seeing my ice holes turn into slurpee consistency every other minute.
I could handle the forecasted temps, but add the constant wind and I don't think we would enjoy ourselves as cold tent campers. Firewood doesn't last long. And I'm the only one gathering and cutting it. Disappointed, the dog loves winter, but we are both becoming old dogs and I know what I do not like when it comes to winter camping..........wind.
The toboggan remains packed and ready to go.
Who knows, maybe a mid-April trip for crappies on the Ely side is a possibility?

This is predicted for much of northern and central Minnesota.

Meanwhile in Iowa we're under a Moderate (level 4 out of 5) risk of severe weather for tomorrow. Primarily straight-line winds and tornadoes. I'm a NWS weather spotter, so it should be an interesting day...

Maybe get your old snow plowing job back.

Yes, it is getting long, Talking about 11 new inches next week in Nashwauk thru Brainerd. We have about 26 inches on the ground, the plus side we have almost zero frost so maybe much of melt will run in.

I noticed the deer quit smiling and getting grumpy. One thing are snow is as hard as a brick so deer are staying on top getting around, but we will lose some fawns, hope not very many. most deer look pretty good.

Well Linden, I stayed a month longer then last year... tacking on another next “spring”. Sitting in my camper in my sons back horse pasture waiting out the rain and snow. Maybe start cooking tomorrow that liquid gold... maple syrup!
Pine tree... no more snow plowing for me. I have little use of my right hand... I can’t even go far on the four wheeler and I lose all use of it and the dog has to drive me home. Haha.
Everyone better be ready for a good canoe season. Lots of snow means lots of water! I may not be able to paddle, but I’ll be near by camping and doing what I can to enjoy what I can.
