Okay, I may have been mistaken, not sure.....

I sincerely thought this lake has six campsites. I now realize some may say this lake has three campsites. It depends on where you understand the border of this lake to be. We may need a ruling from the French judge on this question.

Here's where I thought this lake ends when I said it had six campsites. If I'm wrong, I beg your collective forgiveness! I wasn't trying to be tricky.

TuscaroraBorealis: "Gneiss"

You got it! I figured my mea culpa would make it pretty obvious. The first two pics were taken from the island campsite, which we really enjoyed for two nights last Sept.

So, I really am curious now...where is the official border between Marabouf and Gneiss? I see conflicting info but nothing that appears definitive. Maybe that's a topic for a separate thread.

For now, it's all yours TuscaroraBorealis!

Shoot, I had Gneiss typed in for awhile before I hit that same conundrum.

Worse yet, some maps mark the space between as "Devil's Elbow" so three out of the six are on that lake instead. It is an interesting question.

Sorry, TreeBear. I thought Gneiss extended to that pinch point in the third picture and past that was Marabouf. And I understood Devils Elbow not to be a separate body of water, but just a general term describing that area of Gneiss.

I saw somewhere that noted six campsites on Gneiss and nine campsites on Marabouf, which seemed to support my understanding. But, again, now that I look closer, I'm seeing contradictory info.

In hindsight, there were a million other clues I could have used that would have caused less confusion. My bad.

Haha. It's all good! It's how the game goes.

It could be that after the ham lake fire the USFs closed or removed some sites that were beyond damaged. This is just a thought.
