Nobody here can give you a permit, they can only be reserved at recreation.gov

That particular permit is all sold out at the moment.

This website has a great feature where you can sign up to be alerted if a permit becomes available due to cancellation. Go to this page for the Moose chain day use motor permit information, and scroll to the bottom and click the button that says "Sign up for alerts for entry point F."

Note: You will need to register for this website as a supporting member to be able to use this feature. Registering is free, but to be a supporting member you have to make a donation. (I believe the minimum is $5.) Alternatively, you can also register for free and then purchase something from the online store. When you check out there is spot where you enter your username and they will credit the purchase toward your account, this also makes you a "supporting member."

I've often wondered about whether this would work?

Party A has an entry permit for lake X they are going to cancel.

Party B wants an entry permit for Lake X on the same day.

Could party A add Party B as an alternate leader, and then party B pay Party A's refund, and effectively the permit has been transferred from A to B?

IF the above sequence works, I would imagine it would work for a day use motor permit as well.

Never tried that, but from recreation.gov: “Permits are not transferable (permit holder, alternates, entry date and entry point cannot be changed once the permit reservation is made).”

If your scenario was allowed, then anyone could buy a bunch of permits with no specific user in mind and sell them to the highest bidder.
