Recently moved up to Ely for summer and have fished Low Lake twice now. Lots of little pike and a few decent sized smallmouth. I primarily fished the north finger of the lake as there was a lot of vegetation. I cruised around the southwest finger and didn’t find much other than the lake slowly getting deeper in the middle.. maybe I missed something. Curious if anyone has fished this lake in the past and could give some pointers as to where the bigger pike might be hanging out. Im also open to targeting other fish species so any information on that would be great too. Thanks for the help.

I’ve only fished Low a few times with little luck. But there are walleye in there. There are bigger pike in Bass Lake and nice smallmouth and largemouth.

Some panfish
Wouldn't spend a lot of time there.
Put in and fished for 5 min in the dock area. Game warden put in right after. Pulled up and checked me. Then he made a comment about the leak I took quarter mile down the road from the ramp.
Your never really alone when you think you are alone.

Thanks for the info. Have any suggestions for littler lakes to fish? I’m just out a canoe so I’d prefer to stay away from the bigger lakes. I’m thinking about trying cedar lake and little long lake sometime in the next week or so. Don’t need any “secret spots” just looking for some fish to eat for supper. Thanks.

I fish in the Ely area and I prefer non-motorized lakes. Here are just a few: Bass, Grassy, Agassa, Ed Shave, Nickel, High, and Dry. A little farther out of Ely are Isabella Lake, Island River, and Bog Lake.

Ojibway on the east side of Ely and Wolf on the west side of Ely are both fun and have a variety of fish in them. Little long has a ton of ravenous little bluegill in it but if you can get past them there are some decent bass.

Who said you can have a motor on Ed Shave?

I mighta said that once. I've seen motors on Ed Shave.

Yes, motors are allowed on Ed Shave, but rarely do I see anyone there. Most likely you’d have the lake to yourself.
