Anyone know a truly effective way to dry the clean water bag after your trip?

An aquarium pump with the tube inserted in the bag works well.

Always a bear to get the last drop or two out, but after rinsing and cleaning with a tiny amount of bleach I hang mine upside down, prop open the opening with something like a popsicle stick or half a chop stick, and put a couple paper towels in there. Usually in 2-3 days they are dry and I put away.

I'd sure be glad to hear better ideas.

I'm almost wondering if the best solution is just to put the blessed thing away wet and do the bleach rinse routine again just before the trip.

I've struggled with drying the clean platypus bags out. I took unshavenman's advice and just got my bags dry after only a couple of hours. I made a stand out of a bit of 2x4 as a base with two lengths of dowel fixed upright with tubes from a dual outlet aquarium pump taped to the top end of the dowels. It's akin to a boot dryer for the water bags.

I just leave the last dribble of alcohol in the Platy and refill it before my next trip. Never heard of putting water in one...

Good catch Mgraber, I described the dirty bag. I still do almost the same thing on the clean bag though. Twisted paper towels can go in the pour hole, and I use chop sticks to move them around. It takes a little work but the damp twisted paper towels can be extracted with a little effort. After getting most the moisture out with paper towels I may put one in there to help hold the sides apart, and hang it for 2 days or so next to my dirty bag, filter, and hose.

Pretty sure I got this idea from others here. I like the aquarium pump idea but don’t have one handy.

I've owned a Platypus 4-Liter gravity system for several years now. After previous trips, I've gone through the disinfectant routine as instructed, then waited for days for the 'clean' bag and the opened filter to dry. This year, after getting as much water out of the clean bag as I could, I put the filter and the bag in my food dryer, with temperature set at 90-95F. The bag was held open with a reshaped plastic-coated clothes hanger. One-day drying and ready for storage.

PS: I really admire the aquarium air pump idea, but don't have any aquarium gear but have the food dryer.

The pump with hose usually has the Clean bag dried in less than 24 hours. After that, I’ll usually put it in the Dirty bag afterwards if it still has any remaining moisture.
