Not necessarily for soloing, but I find that the CCS Pioneer is just about the perfect pack, perfect size. Want smaller? Just leave it less than full. Want larger? I pity you on the portage.

I'll echo the sentiments on the Pioneer Pack. Awesome pack and the perfect size for me and my dog. Not sure what your looking for out of a second pack but mine is just a small Kelty 22l day pack which will carry food at he beginning of the trip and allow me to single carry at the end if need be as I can then stuff it in the Pioneer.

I have two CCS Guides and I don't have any issues overpacking them. They cinch down nicely but can expand if you want to use them for car camping or something where you won't need to squeeze them into a canoe. They're not that much more expensive. By the time I'm done packing mine for canoe trips, they're probably the same size as a mostly-expanded Pioneer.
You probably can't go wrong no matter what. They're excellent packs.

Pioneer is the best. schweady said it perfectly, but technically_rugged makes a good point too. Get what works for you. You can always cinch it smaller, but then you have to carry the extra weight of the pack and it is easier to overpack.
I never completely fill my pack. The one or two times that I came close were not fun. The pioneer size is perfect for fitting in a canoe and works best when you can keep it from bulging too much so the weight stays close to your body.

Our family has a Guide, Pioneer, 2 rucksacks, and a Wanderer.
For solo trips I use the Pioneer and the Wanderer. For a 14 day trip I would need to use a rucksack instead of the Wanderer. The Bushcrafter wasn’t out yet when we got the Rucksacks 14 years ago, but I would get that instead of Rucksack now for the side pockets.
When I used to single portage I used the Guide for solo trips. I t was a very tight fit in a Northstar NW Solo so I don’t think that it would fit in a Prism. I had my dog along so I didn’t need a 2nd pack for trim.

Pioneer is what I use in a NW solo, with no second pack. Ursack fits inside along with all my gear and nearly all the dogs gear. This is good for about a week though. Any longer and I would need separate pack for food and dog food. In which case pretty much anything around 30-40L would do. A thing bigger than the Pioneer and I think you’ll have issues fitting it in a Prism. I know that a fully stuffed GG Superior One would not clear the gunwales behind me and was an absolute pain to get in and out.
