Put in on EP48. Went from Meeds to Gaskin, to Horseshoe, back to Poplar. Plus casting on all the small lakes in between. Pulled Lindy rigs, jig and a minnow (rainbows), plastics etc. If I did not know any better, I would say there is not any fish in any of the lakes up there. One walleye. About 12 inches.
Anybody else do better than me?

lundojam: "I've been badly skunked on those lakes before as well. My wife and I did well on Lake One over Memorial Day weekend; lots of walleyes."
May I ask what depth and type of presentation you used? We put in on Friday, although at a different entry.

On the second weekend we were in off the Gunflint and we did well for Lake Trout (trolling spoons). My neighbor was in chasing walleye over this memorial weekend and also did very well (Jig and minnow).

We did the Frost River loop, in May 20 out May 24. One northern pike, but each time we went out for Lakers we caught limits in about 15 minutes. When fishing for other things...nothing. Was delightfully surprised by the lakers though, and made for a great backcountry dinner!

Man Chain 18th-25th, Carp lake was good for all species, and the Man Chain of lakes mostly eater lakers a couple large 23"-30", lots of pike and just some Smallies and walleye. When we came out on the 25th two boats told us they were doing well on Smallies on Carp.

White plastic leaches with twisty tails work great when they are biting. Sometimes it seems like nothing works. I really have appreciated using barbless hooks that are required in Quetico. There's nothing like catching a stingray with a barbed hook on a sit on top kayak to make you a convert.
Always look for places where shadows hit the water for walleye when it is really sunny, and moving water near a creek is usually good too. Also, for some reason we have often caught fish about 50 feet from our campsite as we were coming in from fishing all over the lake. I think they just like to frustrate us.

Terribly slow the week before Memorial. 62-65 deg surface temps throughout Beartrap/ Thunder area. Threw everything at them, rainbows, plastics, cranks. Auto charted/ mapped damn near the whole lake, fishing from 3’ to 30”. All I could think of was the recent heat wave we endured.
