I've always made dump cake with large can of pie filling, 1 box cake mix, and a stick of butter. Just checking online and finding variations to include 1 or 2 cans of filling, 3 to 12 tablespoons of butter, and some add a can of lemon lime soda. Anyone compared?

Anyone recommend lining d.o. in foil for this? (borrowing d.o.)

Thinking peach and yellow cake mix.

Thanks!

In scouts we make something similar in a Dutch oven. To make cleanup easier you can line with tinfoil, but they make liners that work even better.

The scouts in our troop don’t use butter, it’s cake mix, pie filling, and soda…so for a “peach cobbler” it would be
1-2 cans of peach pie filling
1-2 boxes of cake mix
12-20 oz. Of any clear soda (sprite works well)

The butter would probably make it better but usually it’s pretty good…depending on how well the scout cooking watches the cooking process :)

The variations are endless… For Cooking MB my youngest did
2 boxes of chocolate cake
1 bag chocolate chips
2 cans of cheery pie filling
2 cans of cherry soda

Dutch oven liner
