Hi everyone,
My wife and I just booked a last minute trip thru Fall Lake this week, we found a cancelled permit and were able to pick it up. We go in Saturday July 20, with intentions of setting up base on Basswood. I've never been on Basswood before, how congested does the motor area feel? I'm not sure if we need to plan on paddling up to the non motorized area to set up camp for our trip, or if we will be ok down in Jackfish Bay. We plan on taking a day trip up to check out Upper and Lower Falls, and then spend the rest of our time exploring and fishing.
Thanks

Only you can tell us if the motor will keep you from enjoying yourself. It is only a 2 or3 hour paddle to the no motor zone. The fishing is good in Jackfish....if you know how and where.

It's an easy paddle from EP24 to the no motor zone, and then you will be closer to the Falls. We camped south of Washington/Lincoln islands in the motor zone and the motor boats were present but not annoying.

Personally, I prefer the non-motorized areas.

This was our trip last year and we had a great time!
2023 trip

If you can get it, I highly recommend campsite 1562 in the Lewis Narrows area of Pipestone Bay. Beautiful site with lots of room.
