On the 20th, I'll be heading in through Lake One for 4 nights, will be bringing my 15 year old daughter on her 1st trip. Plan is to get down to Lake 3 or 4 and basecamp. Plan to do some fishing and relaxing. I am just wondering what might be some good day trips from that area. Anything of interest to see or do?

Take the 3 portages into Hudson. The rapids/almost waterfall at the second portage is interesting. There are 2 portage trails, one next to the rapids, the other through more woods. Take the woods one unless you and your daughter are very skilled and strong paddlers. The normal route we would take from the top of the rapids/waterfall is to paddle across and up the "slick water". It is very easy to get crosswise and capsize there.

From once into Hudson, take the north arm and portage into Fire lake, then back to Bridge lake and into Lake 4. That should take a good part of a day to make this loop.

Coming out you might consider taking the portages through Confusion Lake to the river and then up to the landing. It’s a very pretty area and would help vary your route.
