Is there cell phone reception at the Brule Lake eastern campsites? If so, what carrier? Trying to avoid purchasing sat phone minutes or renting a spot.

I was on Brule twice last summer with AT&T, I am pretty sure there is no cell coverage anywhere on Brule. Definitely not in the middle or western campsites, and I doubt the eastern ones are any different.

LindenTree is correct no coverage anywhere on Brule, I have AT&T and friends have Verizon none of us had coverage from the East end to middle part of the lake.

I am fairly sure one of our group got a signal at the top of a substantial hill on the northern shore, more-or-less north of the entry point...and that had to be 8 years ago. It was not at a camp and involved a hike - don't recall the carrier.

And I definitely got a signal at the top of the hill above the famous rock slide on the west end...that was 2016 and verizon. Also involved a hike (in improper footwear).

Google up the carrier for a coverage map, each carrier shows one.

Thanks everyone. I got uncertain answers from Sawbill and Tofte District. Guess it's time to shell out a few bucks.

The only time I've had service at Sawbill was sitting in front of the store connecting to their wireless. No service in the campground or beyond. Brule is not that far from Sawbill so would not expect any service there. For that matter, service in Tofte is sketchy.

The coverage maps are not correct all the time.

There's cell phone coverage on Brule with AT&T. I'm not going to say where because its near one of my good fishing spots and I don't want to give that away, but its there and has been for the last 2-3 years.

Are you familiar with the IOS 18 thread in the Gear Forum? Apparently Apple iphones with the new operating system, IOS 18, will be able to send text messages via satellite.

Thanks for that, and it would be nice, but all we have are androids.

Elon Musk has teamed up with T-Mobile and soon they will have satellite connection with any make of cell phone.
