I'm glad we made the trek in there but regret not bringing some poles along. There's probably some nice fish in there, none of which have ever seen a lure. There are 10 or so minnows that got to check out my feet when I was trying to cool down, lol. The only account I've heard of someone going in there was from mark Anderson of Anderson canoe outfitters in Crane lake. He said he and his dad hiked in there, probably in the 80's or 90s, he said at that time all of the trees around the lake were dead and the place was very creepy. There is a pond at the top of the hill before you descend into haunted that fits his description, that may have been what they found instead. If you're going to try going in from gun watch your footing, there are a lot of holes covered up by moss. Stay as close to the West side of the creek and climb up to the high ground, there is alot of exposed granite that makes walking easier.
The Google maps screen shot shows the 5 or so areas of exposed granite along the creek.
There was that phantom text message, and ton of moose sign, so be careful.
