Anyout out there using the Sven saw - do you use any sort of case or pouch when tripping? I use the compression straps and pocket on the side of my CCS hybrid pack to hold the saw when tripping, but it is always catching the gunwale when lifing or moving the pack. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to have it covered (and I prefer on the outside of the pack so it's easily accessible if needed on a portage). I did a search and saw some ideas from 2012, but the referenced Duluth case is $75, which while great I know is rather steep for a $40 saw. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

I must say - it didn't occur to me to actually check the Sven Saw website - they sell one! Made in MN by Frost River. So I guess I will ask whether anyone has any OTHER sleeve ideas before I buy that one! :-D

We put our Sven saw inside the pack and slip a pair of oven mitts over the ends, holding them in place with a rubber band. The oven mitts are very useful around the campfire so we don't consider them extra weight. Because of the length of the saw, finding it in a pack is easy and there have been very few times we found it needed on a portage.

You might want to reach out to CCS - they do 'custom' as their name implies. They made two saw cases for me just a few years ago for much less than the price of that one you listed. Heavy Cordura, couple of lash loops and Velcro closure. Very happy with the results. FWIW

Webbing can be used to construct a case. Just fold the webbing the appropriate length and sew side and end seams.

You might check out listings on Etsy, I imagine there are some options made specifically for Sven saw dimensions. I know there are several options for silky saws in various sizes and different materials as well.

We carry a pole for our CCS tarp. I got a pole bag from CCS. It's plenty long and large enough for both the saw and the pole. I secure it alongside the pack and clip the cinch string loop to the pack with a carabineer, just in case. I do have a canvas saw case from years ago, so often I'll case it and put it in the CCS pole bag.

I don't know what a Sven Saw looks like. I have an Agawa Boreal 21 and agree you need a way of packing sharp-contoured saws in a way where they won't damage your pack - especially rubberized dry packs. I packed my saw with a leather work glove over each end until I found this on Amazon.

I slip my Sven saw into a piece of hot water pipe insulation and then slide it into my pack. I have been doing it this way for 10ish years now with no issues.
