The title, "Cache Lake Country" caught my eye -- it's a 1947 writing, re-issued in 2017, by John J. Rowlands. As the back cover states, it is a "chronical of Rowland's years there, fusing folklore, philosophy, and practical wisdom." We don't get told wear Cache Lake truly is, but it's a delightful book filled with phenology, backwoods DIY skills, complete with illustrations, living simply in the wilderness, and sustainably.... It is a good wintertime read for those who love the Northwoods and are intrigued by the lifestyle of living remotely (decades ago).
