Hey everyone, while trip planning I noticed that all of the entries off of Lizz/Swamp lake are zeroed out entirely. Almost like it's not an entry point any more. Does anyone know what is the cause of this? The only alternative off of Poplar was to go in on the Meeds entry, which we're doing.

It’s a popular entry point, they’re just already reserved.

Yes, very popular, so it is hard to get a permit for that EP, especially after the daily quota was reduced from 4 to 3 per day a few years ago.

It is my favorite area. I've entered Lizz twice and two other trips I exited through Lizz after entering at other EPs. The one time I entered at Meeds was because I couldn't get a Lizz permit for my date. We exited through Lizz that trip because it's easier than using the Meeds portage and gets you back to the same place. Meeds is a much quieter lake than Caribou, Horseshoe, and Gaskin.

Tried to get a Lizz permit and the couple of dates I had picked were gone in minutes. Secured a Meeds entry as the alternative for one of the dates. As a note, I did pick up a Lizz permit last summer (for a July trip) in mid-May after cancellations started happening.

I didn't have any issues getting into Lizz last summer, so it struck me as odd that most everything else around Lizz had variable openings, but Lizz itself was just full stop full. So hopefully the newbs going up with us aren't too surprised by the Meeds portage.

You can also sign up for permit alerts in case a Lizz/Swamp opens up later.

If the newbs have no relevant portage experience, it will be a challenge. It's not the most difficult but not easy for sure.
