I know there have been several exchanges over the years about using an Aeropress. Last month or so I have been playing around with it…goodness…You can really get sucked into the speciality coffee universe. I don’t know if the AP brews any better than my French press buts it’s certainly fun. I also like the idea of having my jet boil java not being tied down with coffee.

The goal is to have a bypass recipe dialed in for a 14-15 ounce cup. Right now I’m tinkering with 25-35g of coffee at a Chemex to Moka grind with 200ish grams of water. Finish pressing around the 4:00 mark. Then adding 200ish grams h2o.

Please feel free to share any thoughts/recipes etc where you have found Aeropress goodness. I’m pretty open to all roasts but I do like some body so the metal filter might get the nod in the end.

Rabbit hole? What rabbit hole?

While you are dialing in your brew, have you considered how the slightly more acidic water from the tannins might affect the end result? Are you using tap water or distilled water for your dialing in, and have you measured the pH.?

Haha…totally using Appalachian Mountains tap water. Haven’t checked ph. If I can get close, I feel as if I can tweak the grind/immersion time a little and stay in the ballpark. I have been pretty amazed by the difference 30 seconds can make with immersion time.
