Does anyone out there have or have used a BioLite CampStove 2+? Looking for reviews, thoughts, tips about this. It looks interesting and wondered about true functionality. I have used a Pocket Rocket for the past 15+ years and it has served all of my needs to date (used 2 of them when I had groups of 9 of us). Obviously it wouldn't help during a fire ban but otherwise it could save on carrying fuel canisters. Added weight and size of the Biolite would offset this (I'm not overly concerned with weight but do think about it when adding or changing gear).
Just wondering about experiences of others with this - good and bad. Thanks.

If you are just looking to save fuel, there are many lighter, smaller, and cheaper options if you want to burn twigs. If you are looking for charging devices, I would choose an Anker brick over this. I'm not saying this is a bad option, you just don't see a lot of experienced paddlers using these or talking about them.

We have one and my husband loves it because he can also charge his phone and other electronics with it. It is also nice to just be able to toss campsite scraps into it and never really have to look for wood. It is very efficient. We also have the kettle pot that fits on top and the stove packs inside it.
I feel like it is too heavy, but too be honest, I have never weighed it compared to the propane bottle and burner we have been mostly bringing.

The BioLite website says it generates a peak of 3 watts, and if I did my math right (or rather AI did my math right) that’s about 810 mAh per 1 hour of hot fire. It comes with a 3,200 mAh internal battery you can use to charge devices any time, then each fire adds back to the internal battery. That strikes me as fairly slow recharge and means keeping a fire going. Seems my Solo stove and a seperate Anker 10,000 mAh battery bank is smaller, lighter, and more efficient.
I love my Solo twig stove. It does let me bring less white gas and I like the ambiance it creates. After cooking I usually keep it going - it’s like having a time camp fire right under my tarp with easy wood collecting and no processing.

Thanks for the input. Just the few responses tell me it might be useful but not better than what I currently have. I do love my pocket rocket and do have a small power brick that bring with me on trips and suspected these would be smaller and probably better than the Biolite stove. Just needed to hear from others who have used this or had some better information than me to help me get a better take on this device.
I appreciate everyone's feedback. You've helped me decide that I'll take a pass on the Campstove.
