When I go single-carry I sometimes bring Sony RX100 (M3) considering it to be a good middle ground between weight, size and quality. I wonder if someone knows of a reliable waterproof bag for a camera of that size, slightly bigger than average P&S? Pelican case would be too heavy. I used Aquapac before and found that its closure system is not very reliable...

Any decent 5L dry bag (mine's a NRS). Hard cases allow more rapid access, but any small dry bag will work.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm looking for something compact and easy to open, like ziploc but more secure. I like to keep camera handy together with other necessary items in a small thwart case in front of me when paddling. Dry bags are bulky and too much hassle to close them properly on the fly.

I would reconsider a small Pelican case. I use it for more than the camera. I put our phones in it too. Yes it's heavier but it's also highly shock proof and it will float. It also provides easy access. I would not pack a precious camera in a soft bag .

You might want to look at a SealLine E-case. Those have what looks to be a pressfit ziplock-type seal. Or look on B&H site at the Fidlock bags (I have no experience with Fidlock, however).

What about (given the in-canoe storage system you describe) just using a waterproof thwart bag/case and calling it good?

Thanks! The Hermetic Dry Bag looks intriguing - light, slim, and easy to open. The IPX8 rating is impressive. I’m curious if the magnetic closure proves more reliable than the ziploc seal, which I've found to be prone to failure, especially when sand or dirt get in, as they eventually will.

Reporting back: I got the Fidlock Maxi magnetic bag. Fits Sony RXIII 100 tightly but nicely and didn't allow any moisture in after 30 minutes in a bathtub with running water. We'll see this summer about its field reliability.
