Looking at possibly buying 2 used Northwind 17s for this season, however I have never paddled one before (I may not have the chance until I’ve driven 6 hours). I’ve read several reviews here, and I’m trying to get an idea as far as how they compare to other canoes I’ve paddled. I have really only paddled 3 canoes for any decent amount of time, with them being;
Hoefgen- unsure of model, spent a little time as a teen at grandparents cabin in one.
Penobscot 16- unsure of which material, but it was definitely heavy. Spent a 4-5 day trip in both seats, and spent several weeks going for daily paddles
Wenonah Seneca- took my family of 4 on a 3 day Sylvania trip last summer.
I’ve also briefly paddled a MN II
Obviously the Northwind will be lighter than my previous experiences, but how does it compare as far as handling and stability both with and without load? Thanks
