This is the route I'm considering from Sassenach. I may have to put in at Smye. It's about a 90 mile loop. Three questions...

1. Since all the rivers in this loop flow north, which river out of Wabakimi Lake would be easier to paddle upstream? Another way to ask this question: should I go clockwise or counter clockwise? One consideration I know is whether to do the huge water (Wabakimi) east to west or west to east. 75% of the time the wind will be coming west to east...
2. Since I'll be going towards the end of July and into August, will the water levels typically be lower and will it make a significant difference for this route?
3. Any other information you can give me about this route would be helpful...

The section you have on the route going south off of Wabakimi lake is a whitewater portion of the Allanwater. Flow run from the south going north. I’d recommend doing that with the flow. You definitely want to know where the portages are and have some whitewater skills. You could route further to the east slightly and avoid that section of the Allanwater. You come out into Granite lake at just about the same point. The Allanwater is the bigger higher flowing river for this area. Of the park.

I think the portion you have west and Southwest is Ogoki or Flindt rivers. Those run from Southwest to Northwest flowing into Wabakimi lake. Some of that area burned in 2023. Deeper down in the threads but not far is the Flindt River report from someone in 2024.

I can’t really get into fine detail on the route since I can’t zoom in for more detail so it’s hard to tell exactly where the route goes through.

Ryan.

Maybe go on Friends of Wabakimi website and ask for trip advisor information regarding your proposed route.
